How can you not love this Jim Thome:

"I want to be, and I am absolutely willing to shoulder the responsibility of being there to help build those young players into winners," Thome said Thursday. On Friday, Thome sat down with Shapiro and told him he wanted to play out the season in Cleveland -- partly because he genuinely loves Cleveland and partly because of his wife's pregnancy. In turn, Shapiro told Thome that once he hit the market at season's end and determined his value, the Indians would like a last shot, to which Thome replied, "that's what I want."

You are absolutely right teacher. It would certainly be in the best interests of the Indians to keep this guy. If this team is ever to get on the right track then Jim Thome should be the conductor.

Stark on ESPN says this:

"Jim Thome has told friends he would consider a
deal if it helps the Indians -- especially if it's
Boston, where he and manager Grady Little are
close. Thome still has more than $4 million in
salary coming this season. So if a team
interested in Thome is inclined to pick up all of
that, there are indications GM Mark Shapiro
won't ask for nearly the return in players that he got for Colon, who has an option for next season."

I do believe Jimmy will be wearing a Red Sox uni within the month.

Well, the Red Sox Fanhome board, quoting a Providence paper, has Nixon to the A's, Thome to the Sox, and Pena to the Tribe in a 3-way deal which would probably include others. Pena is the hot shot 1st base prospect that Texas sent to Oakland, and is now back in the minors after starting out strong. I would like to see the Tribe get Boston 2nd base prospect Freddy Sanchez in any deal for Thome. Since a Nixon trade would open up a hole in RF, maybe they would like Mr. Lawton as well?

If Manny can be voted into the All-Star game even though he missed a month of playing time, Why can't Bartolo get in even though he only missed about 10 days?

Just judge him based on his A.L. performance, and if it's good enough, let him pitch for the A.L.

What's the big deal?

As for Thome, have you all voted for Thome as the 30th man?
